    Evening

Are we going to open the gates to more variations of cars as we see the decline in the Subaru's daily. and people are leaving hand over fist. I know myself haven't re-joined yet but will but we could fill the car stands with a variety of sports vehicles ranging from BMWs to Ford RSs and may others expanding the group and also increasing the club funding .

Probably will get shot down but to survive you need to adapt Evolution is a swine

could be the way to go in the future as subaru ownership is dwindling and even one car make events are declining ,,cars and coffee events seem popular and poeple do need a variety nowadays of different cars !

Unfortunately not all but most folks with classsic/ newage impreza just have them sat in garages now not to be used, i know there are some lovely examples in lads but numbers are likely to get worse due to less on the road.
I think it would be very important for lads to keep its dna, which is obviously the subaru marque but possibly tweak it to allow "rally" bred cars into the club this will certainly boost numbers, after all we wouldn't want boy racers in fiat punto and Citroën saxo etc turning up with loud exhausts as this would do far more harm than good imo
I think you have made a very good point though Covak 2002, but as I say a slight twaek would no doubt boost numbers appropriately without affecting the clubs dna

Yes very good point and you could have Vetting as we could have Escort and other classic Marques joining and in the shows the Subaru's would be front of house as you say that is the DNA of the club but also you mention mine being 1 of them Rare models people dont want to use mine is now off the road and will be on axle stands soon as i dont need to use but did for the shows. plans still being completed to strip back to Standard but i would then bring 2 cars to the shows my Subaru and also My Focus RS so enlarging the stand and hopefully drawing more people in. Yet to Hear Daves Opinion on this aswell as i know its been mentioned many many times ove rthe last 2 years

What Robert has raised here is nothing new, this has been mentioned in admin many times,
We have always said that other marque of car are welcome to come along to a lads meeting,
I’m confused as to why you have mentioned this now Robert as we haven’t seen you in over a year ‍♂️
if we change our name and allow different cars will we see you and others more?
I doubt it, so a lot of change, bowing down and a lot of expense to gain how many members?
When I say expense, we change the name slightly, which has also been talked about, you then have to change everything, clothing, lads show equipment, the forum logo the list is endless and expensive.
As I said, ALL cars are welcome, but we are a Subaru club, if we do cars and coffee more, which we intend to and have been, that means all can come along,, I see the same people all the time, me, nige, Lee, chris, judith, nick and Tony, Kev, John etc etc
So Robert where have you been?
There’s a meeting on Sunday Rob, see you then
This isn’t a rant and your not being singled out Robert, it’s your thread so I’m trying to answer it with everything,,
If this is the way forward then so be it, but I doubt the numbers will increase as people no longer wish or need to be part of a car club, they can turn up anywhere at most events these days.

Robert, which focus rs do you have? I have a ug mk2 rs these days, sounds like your subaru is your garage queen though
Oh, if subaru did another run of classic imprezas but you had to live in Lancashire to buy 1 that could be the answer to the conundrum

  7. Dammed if we do, dammed if.........etc,etc,etc.

Its a really hard balancing act especially as there are currently only 3 main admin members who keep the club going and run events etc.
Other members do help by sorting individual events (Pendle powerfest as an example) but we would need a lot more volunteers or admin members in order to make large changes.
Theres a lot of work that goes unseen within the club and more members simply means more work (vetting members, forum monitoring, running events, membership management, etc etc etc).
This is NOT a dig at you Robert, but over the years I've found people with "ideas" generally don't stick around when it's time to "roll the sleeves up" for the next x+ years.

On the flip side I believe the club will shrink even more as ownership decreases / cars become garage queens , so to do nothing could signal the end of the club or at least see it become very niche.
One consideration we had a few years ago was to combine local Subaru clubs (Cumbrian, TTS, etc) as their memberships shrank, in order to reduce website costs and spread the work across the board, something to consider but as we tend to attend local events, club meetings, shows etc it wouldn't change much from what happens today.
As mentioned its a fine balance but admin are aware and do regularly discuss the future direction of the club.

Have any of you experienced a sudden and significant increase in your car insurance premiums? I recently received a shocking renewal quote and I'm curious if this is a widespread issue or if there's something specific causing this unexpected surge in insurance costs.
