Hi we have just finsihed the conversion of a V7 import sti engine with brand new 2.5 block into our 2001 bugeye Wrx. Actually its a UK300., num 197. The dam thing wont start. It justs cranks and cranks.
Do we have to code an immobiliser in? Transponder? The engine i was told was out of a Jap import, and he was using it with a sti key with no transponder, i checked, he was. So he stated it would simply just work.? Or was I wrongly informed.
What do I have to buy or who do I have to pay to make this work. The car is sat here doing nothing.
Ive also tried the ecu in our other 2001 bugeye wrx which is box standard uk car and it doesnt even start that, just cranks and cranks. There has been no wiring modds to the car as it used are original loom. Everything simply plugged an go.!
    The Sti Ecu is Model Num - 4L - 22611AH190 - 112200 - 3771 12V
Ive been told just to use my orignal ECu and have it mapped?
ANY HELP WOULD BE GLADLY APPRECIATED!!
P.S Sorry for the long post. Its my first post. :?:

i think if there was any problem with trasponders & keys it wouldnt crank there would be no life at all when you turn the key :?:
could be a fueling problem :?:

    I doubt it.

If I Install a Ah190 Ecu, which is a WRX STI V7 RA, into a the car ( Original bugeye late MY01. It does nothing but crank.

Same goes if I install the AG820 STI Uk My 02 Ecu, nothing but crank.

But on the original ecu it works just fine.

    Any Ideas?

I havent tried sti engine on uk300 ecu yet. What came with car. I rally want to use ecu that came with engine.

The uk 300 worked fine, no problem just wanted more power.

The transplant engine came with the new sti ecu and I bought another just incase I wanted to play as it were.

If the Sti engine starts with the Uk300 ecu. Can it be mapped to suit al modds I need to do. I also got given a Trecs 2 controller. Told it was a good Piggy back controller.

    Thanks

yes just get standard uk ecu mapped to suit engine mods

also do all that you can before getting mapped. saves a lot of money in long run

    Thanks, thats good to know.

Anybody know why ecu's arnt swoppable.?

Ive been told is due to transponders or immobilisers married to keys.

Wonder why I carnt use the STi V7 ecu on my other bugeye? Same connectors ect ect ect

Do you guys think I should change the loom?

The guy is sending me the key for the old engine and the loom.

    What do you think.?

    probally due to immobiliser

So basically if I got the key from the old car it should fire up?

Do the WRX STi V7 tyoe RA ecu's have immobilisers? this is the ecu that came with the engine.

If not shouldnt the car start up?

If anything its probably like the classic STi loom differences and that there are sensors connected at the ecu differently. To check this you'll need a pinout diagram for both the WRX ecu and the STi ecu.

What would be the easiest thing? Change the loom? Re mapp? Hack and splice loom?

Any Ideas pls would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

If you can get hold of the diagrams then once you've traced the mis match then you can swap the pins around as required.

Are both the STi ecus of JDM cars? if they are then you'll need a switch on the clutch peddle before it'll fire.

    Not sure ojn that one.

All I know is the Ecu is 4 L 22611AH190 which translates to WRX STI import Type 7 RA.

    Is this a JDM engine.?
If I change the loom what other bits do I need? Clutch switch? Pedel box? etc etc
A Full list would be great!

    Thanks ALL
