Cheers mick, handles great now so planted and sure footed can fully exploit the power its running Tony I never ask what has been done, I advise Simon how the car currently feels and what I want it to feel like and from there a geo setup is created to best suit my needs. Hope that helps somewhat
Small update Also got my OEM stickers via japan parts :luvlove: and some lightened pulleys came up cheap Couple more mods landing this week courtesy of Alyn ASP
Will be getting a good polish before being fitted RCM sump baffle plate swirl pot with billet filter 100mm intercooler core that will have custom pipework made to suit Genuine JDM key
Early morning jaunt to drop the car off with John Goulding of spool motorsport developments in Scotland. As a bonus got to see the Ti exhaust fitted
Its going to be touch and go but feeling hopeful it will be at JGM day front end starting to take shape but a slight error on the rad as they send the wrong size, waiting on the correct one now RS500 style intercooler from airtec
Oil leak from the avcs solenoid stopped me collecting the car and running it at JGM day, car has been mapped by Andrew Carr. Teaser vid that John sent me
Well the day started at 6.45am on Thursday as we headed up to Edinburgh to John's arrived at around 11.30 and quick nut and bolt check and we are off to HQ performance. Quick stop at Shell as I wanted a v power map rather than Tesco 99 fuel, due to it being more accessible to me around my local vicinity, arrive at HQ in good time and Russ is mapping a nice JDM legacy wagon in WR blue. Car is on the dyno at around 2.45 after lunch, quick smoke test and it reveals a slightly leak around the manifold, quick bolt tighten up and chat with Russ with requirements and how things should pan out. Russ cracks on checking the V power map and doing some runs, everything looks pretty good and goes smoothly and car is performing faultlessly. Time to let car and dyno cool dyno a little as it is almost 40c in the dyno cell Time to setup the flex fuel sensor and get on with the methanol map, some wiring gremlins halt play but with Russ and John both working on the car and some pizzas later, its cracked flex fuel sensor is playing ball and ready to go Russ sets about getting it setup for methanol as it is not straight forward as copying and pasting fuel maps and adjusting it, syvecs makes you start from scratch and adjust it as a percentage. The v power map was capped at 2 bar and for meth we decided on a figure of 2.2 bar, things are going well picking some nice gains on methanol, another couple of runs and car wont go past 2 bar. The wastegate springs stop play at 2 bar so there is headroom for a little more power and torque should I want to push it not that I think I will. We did not get off the dyno till almost 10pm and set off back home at just before 11pm but what a drive back and landing at home at 3.30am on friday!!! Massive thanks to John for building such an awesome car, Russ Paton for doing such a great job mapping the car and recommending an excellent pizza place Would also like to thank eggy790, big fud, marcus, andy grady, tim jt innovations for all the support and helping for seeing the project through Graphs (all figure at the wheels) Low boost v power and v power + meth High Boost v power and v power + meth
