right i know this is gonna start a debate on it shouldnt be done stuff like that but im curious i can turbo my integra which is a non turbo ive turboed zetecs which are non turbo so why hasnt anyone ever turboed the 2000cc non turbo scoobie? me and my mate are going to try no tuning companies will touch us so where gonna have a go our selfs? can it be done? if yes how
It has been done - theres a few posts in the forum... where its been discussed. I think the general concensous was the cost really - you can pick up a good older turbo - for less than the cost of a conversion. However - I think it can be all in the challenge or why else would people do it. Whats your starting car? What are your plans - a show car, or something for the track? Or a general every day run about? Good luck with the project
u are after putin a turbo on a honda integra get a japanese peformance may the will be a car that thay have done one of the north west best tuning specialist
well firstly its a t reg 2litre sport with 55000miles and my mate who owns the car has been banging on about it for a while and ive been trying to do research on it but no1 ever will help me ive asked all the major tuning companies around cheshire and even scooby clinic and they all said no they wont do it just buy a turbo its like they dont want to make money! my mate was perfectly happy runing around in a fully standard apart from an exhaust car but last week he got hit by two cars one on either side knocking of a wing mirror on the drivers side and destroying wing front and rear doors on the near side so nw he has to finally crack open his change purse and spend a bit of cash! so hes decided to go all out! we will be doing the conversion as were both mechanics just dont have a clue where to start i.e what do we buy turbo ecu engine internal wise as he wants to keep his engine due to the relatively low mileage
its all about the money i can pick up all the parts i need and fit them costing relatively nothing we dont have a big budget in fact no budget at all were just gonna get all the bits when we find them but like i said we dont know? would it be easier using a turbo engine and ecu? will the propshaft take it and is it a straight swap into a 2 litre sport whats the car by the way
Finleys is a 95 WRX - but also there are parts from an STI V3 in the for sale section. There are more things to consider other than turbos and ECu's - bigger breaks etc, to cope with the increased stopping requirement. Just from the those 2 posts - I think you could pick up Finley egnine - maybe the loom, brakes from the ST V3 - maybe the suspension and drive train... Both guys also know what there doin with cars so check out the threads
hmm yeah its getting rear brakes from an sti and fronts i need to know what to buy and what i can still use
The whole 'putting a turbo on a Sport' thing has been beaten to death on a few sites, it just ain't worth it for the money. IF someone does go all the way and spends a fortune doing it, eventually you'll end up trying to sell a hybrid that no-one will touch with a barge pole. As for doing this to a Honda, can't help, it's a Scooby site...
he isnt bothered about selling it! he wants it turboed and like isaid ive done the integra turbo and thats not what im talking about! fact is he cant afford to go out and buy a turbo and his car isnt worth anything at the moment due to the crunch down one side this is our project! all i want is help at the end of the day its not your money or my money its his he wants it doing not me im quite happy eating his sport all day hense the reason he wants more power so he can beat me
i have a legacy turbo i am breaking so have all the standard brakes etc for sale also have an engine from a twin turbo auto legacy for sale
and hes the only one of us (ie my mates) with out a turboed car i have my integra turbo 310bhp , one mate has a 2litre fiesta mk3 zetec turbo 260 bhp, my other mate has a crx delsol sir tubo 230 bhp, my dad has an evo 9 fq 360, he has a lowly 2 litre sport with 123 bhp! we are not about buying bigger faster cars our love is start from scratch and build something unique and special thats our own
think its all about well ive done it not about cost and how much it will be worth good luck in doin it i did one about 4 years a go lad still got it in leyland and loves it
