-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i am currently self employed and my business name is b c motor services. i am expanding my business and getting a unit in darwen lancashire( near unit8). i have been in the trade for neally 20 years working on all sort's of vehicles. even did a timing belt on a ferrari now i am after changing my business name to something catchy that stands out. specialising in jap cars. so idea's will be appreciated. my name is brian coward if this helps
Go for something general not something that pidgeonholes what you offer. That way you can add products, services and extend the scale of what you do under one banner. I'd keep away from using your own name too, gives a bit of a flat cap and braces impression if you see what I mean. There are company names lists on the web for idea's. When you HAVE picked something, run it through the free companies house website to check for similar/same registered names.
Jap-motorvation You don't want something with too many words as should you wish to build a website anything with multiple words needs dots & dashes and so on which noone will be able to remember.
Call it JAP CAR SPECIALISTS not currently listed on companies house. It would be a great name when googled if you got a decent web page
whatever name you chose, I know you,ll be a success mate, I wish you all the best in your venture, and as a genuinely decent guy you deserve it for you and your family,, all the best for the future, Andy
Maybe just 'MotoVation', combination of Motor and Innovation.... sounds like motivation too , probably work as a logo/motif or Brand name as well.
This is a difficult one. What are your intentions Brian with regard to where you are going with the business? If you are a jap specialist and wish to continue in that field then I think you should advertise the fact. If you go the neutral route then, unless I knew you personally I wouldn't go to someone that is jack of all trades, if you get my meaning........but then again I use Andy  You can always advertise the fact you work alongside other manufacturers in your website?
Liking that one tunnelmeister, hope you're gonna share the prize with me should that one win
No worries Stu. With something like that as a name specialist services, Jap or others can be advertised along side keeping this flexible. Could also be used as a 'Brand' name... 'MotoVation' Exhausts, Headers, manifolds, BodyBits, etc, etc... stuff that Brian may design and have made etc. :?: :?: :?:
Agree with Andy, good luck m8... Be prepared for a steep learning curve, as both me and Andy know all too well.    Any help/advice is glady given out from me, though what thats worth is anyones guess...   If you are going to specialise in jap cars, then either 'jap' or 'japanese' must surely be in the name somewhere..
"Automotion" was the business who had our unit before us,, name seems to have stuck around here, so must have worked back then, what about Scoobyteknix east lancs
