Turned out the rota gra i swapped for, were copies, so i got my xxr back, Got a shed load done on the car today. Fitting of a spec c roof flap Now alot of people use frayz guide, which is great. But there is one piece of miss information. Once your lining is down, he says to remove this part. But infact the bracket for the roof vent uses this for centring and strength. See how the screws that held the map lights in, now hold the frame, after this you can bolt the other two holes Then you cam centre punch all your holes and get the drill out. Dopily i forgot pics for the hole!!! But the rest is per guide, The inside And out. Next thing was to remove the old grille to fit my hella horns, and jdm grille. Also took the bit kf dash our were then flock had flacked amd blacked that. After that i took the gear knob off, cut the leaver down by about an inch and installed a new knob Final pics Jake
As ever Jake I like the way you think through what you want and it all 'fits' and blends well Excellent job. Where did you source the vent kit?
Cheers bud, Ive always liked the oem+ view be it when i have vag or jap, The kit was from matty b the breaker, there getting rare now, £300 lol But the previous owner bought the plate back for the same ammount, so the mrs is happy, technically not spent out haha
Well the other two wheels turned up, so i cleaned them and sealed the backs, Also fitted the brembo stickers Here they are on The rear camber needs to come out as the backs set at over -2degrees for the old wheels. Other new had andrew carr over for a tweek, the car is now mapped mafless, this has transformed the car. Youll notice the original plate, £12 for two plates for one days driving. Lol my plate goes on tomorrow. Im finally getting somewhat like with the car now
as with any older car (15yrs) the inevitable maintainace needs doing so. new rocker gaskets are ordered as there weeping new excedy clutch ordered as its starting to judder a tiny bit with the new mapping. also undersealed the car. not driven it for over 3 weeks now, due to money constraints buying parts and pricing the job up with various people, undecided wether to tackle the rocker myself.
Made a start on the mods, New pair of fogs, some lamin x and burnt fingers Im picking up a standard bumper tomorrow from scott at scoobyspare, then im waiting for some other bits to turn up Splitter Intercooler Also have a smooth boot to prime and paint Heres some inspiration Ive been debating changing wheels, but first i think a nice gunmetal on the speedlines then ill see Jake
Well seen as im off on paternity with the birth of my second child, i sent instructions to my minions at work Boot smoothed and into primer And bumper primed Jake
Yeah the car made 280bho ish on a wrx tmic so thats fine for me. Today was my first day back in, so naturally i did no work, and focused on the scoob. Prepped all the bits and put them in to the booth, Then 3coats of paint, The prodrive replica splitter also came, needless to say, it didnt fit like the 100% garentee stated, so I used my old bumper to mock up on, shape and cut. Ive heated it so hopefully it will keep its shape.
So today i stripped the bumper and removed the intercooler, then fitted the oem beam. After that the arch liners came out, as i have new ones, and binned the mud flaps. After that i took the skirts off, ready to paint with the grill and splitter. The splitters turned out really well for the price and it being a copy. Only thing i had left to do was black the lower beam and fit the boot, and this is how i left the car. Im so undecided on wheel colour, i like both gold and grey. Jake
