Saturday saw the beginning of the Colin Mcrae Gathering a memorial run from Lanark in Scotland to Prodrive’s base in Banbury culminating in an event at their Warwick base on the Sunday. Jimmy Mcrae led the convoy out of Lanark some time early Saturday, the group then heading south.

Well i’ve had to split this up into three parts to really give you an idea of the experiences i’ve had this weekend. The day began at Charnock Richard services on the M6 in Lancashire, the convoy was en-route from Lanark scheduled to make a fuel stop here.

A steady stream of Subaru’s entered the car-park, initially just a few then over 300!

Driving down in convoy was an amazing sight with the tailback stretching over 30 miles at one point each of the drivers waving and beeping their horns at the spectators on the bridges, a great show of support by everybody for Colin Mcrae

Revolution brought along their newly aquired 08 STI, I hated these at first, but hard parked in white i'd take one

Launsport kitted STI entering the services, replicas like this are common in the UK

Over 600 Subaru's filled the entire carpark, a logistical nightmare but the Prodrive and event staff handled it superbly

I'd usually chuck shots like this but it gives a sense of the experience in convoy

An RB320 the driver didn't look so happy

The run was quite emotional at times crowds had gathered on nearly every bridge overlooking the route to show their support for Colin many with home made banners and Subaru flags.

We drove down in my dads STI he's a self proclaimed Subaru nut and we all had a great run down on Saturday, I took this shot at around midnight. Thanks for the trip

I'll be posting the second part at some point in the next day or two so check back for that
