checked with a few diff companies and told them it will be baked and i would be looking for it to be done about 2 weeks after this and they all said thats plenty ?

    tell me more

just bought a car cover and they said 6 months before you use it on fresh paint but told them it was being baked and they then said it can be used after a week

    is this right jake ?

I would have thought if it's being baked the solvents would be no longer in the paint?

    Not true.

DuPont our paint company specify 6 weeks before covering fresh paint backed or not. The solvents are still coming out they go as far as not even allowing wax for warrenty info.

This is what I stand by and tell our customers

Lets face it I'm not trying to sell you a cover or film

If you apply too soon you run the risk of solvent pop.

    solvent pop sounds nasty

might put it on a trailer to bring it home and hire a gararge for a few weeks then :(

just need a competent installer now

Ok. Just spoken to my technical rep

From a warrenty point of view what I say above stands.

But he deals with middle hurst who do alot of r35 gtr

Real world. They paint and bake.

Leave for 48hrs. Then denid/polish. Then degrease to make sure there's no drop back. Then apply the film. Leave for 48hrs again then fit.

This way he's had no come backs but will invalidate warrenty.

    So I was wrong.

The company in Altricham is where I had mine done is called Scratchgard (a durable company), strange because when I had mine done I'd had it painted by Neil at Eclipse I drove it straight to Altrincham to be covered.

That was 7 years ago  And I think it's ok

Address is Unit 1D Stag Ind Est

I can't say if they are still there though mate, shame as I drove passed there the other week picking the new trailer up for work :(

I've got a leaflet you can have when I see you.

Off your marks detailing in Warrington - one of the best in the country dave - look at his work on detailing world - that's where mine is going - detailed out of its mind then having the PPF done while there

Dave from reading up on it on DW it's pointless putting it paint that isn't peeped correctly - even the best body shops are not the best polishers - to get the best it needs to go to someone that specialises in polishing. Then have it fitted to perfect paint

With fresh paint you can only do so much, over the weeks it still releases voc (solvents) so if its polished too soon it will drop, it's just part of fresh paint,, ideally you want to leave the car for a week then polish it. Sadly this rarely happens
