Hi all not been about to much since i sold the forester and early on in this year had quite a bad accident at work so to help with my rehab and to stop myself going a bit mental ive treated myself to one of my top ten list cars its a rwd mk3 escort not a true gartrac shell but its near enough for me its set up is mk2 escort running gear and 5 link atlas axle at the rear this is how it was went i went to view it
thanks for the replies it is a bit of an eye opener now as ive removed the donkey and all the front struts wheels so now i have a bare shell time for me to start with the wire brush and repaint the underside of the car inside is now painted pics to follow in this ive temp fitted cage to have a look on how the door bars fit with the door cards and handles all is well there mk2 escort group1 front billy struts on their way with vented discs and 2.4 quick rack as soon as im all painted upfront then i will be the first mech items to be fitted onwards from there on thats where im up to so far with the topside if any of you are on facebook i have an open album to view called escort rwd project lots more pics there i just dont want to make this pic heavy
hi all been a busy week of painting the engine bay and the underside of the scort after the removal of the heavy donkey last weekend parts which have come this week are front struts rolltop bearing mounts w/cup billys vented discs calipers quickrack just need to get my front crossmember im undecided on which one to go for yet the budget can get out of hand quite easy which im sure many of you can relate to i will post up some pics after ive given everything a bit of a cleanup oh the cage has been removed and sanded down and thats sat in primer now awaiting to be painted and fitted im hoping to make my mind up on the crossmember today so that i can then start putting the scort back together
i was looking at it but im after a rx8 with a knackerd engine so i can put in a scoob engine in it ity will make a cheap brz copy hehehe or may put a 2.1 pinto in it
hi all i didnt want you to think i had given up but still having a bit of a busy time stripping back the old underside and repainting it in this weather its not the best when working on your drive the engine bay is now looking a lot fresher the original crossmember mounts have been cut and moved higher for the xr 2.8 engine to fit with its so im having to cut them out and weld them back into their original position to have the steering rack and original mk2 crossmember to fit snug as they should my track control arms have come this week so the list of parts that need fitting is getting longer and my spare room is getting full i need to get the topside ready for primer its due in at the paint shop in just under 3 weeks ive spent some time this week making new mounts for the front headlights as the original front panel has been removed and what is there is made from fibreglass ive now got them done for both sides with adjustment the indicators are a different story ive got an idea in my head what to do but we will see pics to follow of the indicator sarga lol doing that tomorrow thanks for the interest stu
