New life down under, leaving UK 01/01/12

    well lads our visas have been granted/approved flights booked & paid for so we leave the Uk on new years day :D

    no its a 457 sponsored visa valid for 4 years :wink:

    The boy flys to Australia today to start his new life :cry:

    2 year contract as a mental health nurse in Adelaide

    It will be interesting to see how he likes it
    Starts on 58k dollars compared to average 20-30 k per annum
    Nurses from uk are sought after for some reason
    Maybe too many drunken aborginies :D
    Living costs are on par with the uk though although you can buy a nice detached house with pool for £180k ,try 300-350k + where we live in Cumbria
    Cheaper houses are 140 k
    Rentals are very expensive @ £200 per week unfurnished though

    But everyone goes for the weather
    Which we don't get in this country ,just cold rain and 40% tax if your well paid
