you could do what i did today, i had no option but to stick 95ron in my ever so slightly modded classic, and just drove off boost till i could get...
the only true way is to strip it down, as you can't easily inspect the bearings on a flat four, infact without buying expensive tools you can't...
not that easy on a flat four, as to get at the bearing caps you need to split the block.
If it goes after its up to temp its probably got a bit of piston slap, which that year were prone to have. oil leak at the back of the sump could...
